Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Joining the Chamber
1. Is the Chamber of Commerce a good fit for my business?
Yes! Whether you’re a small startup or an established business, the Chamber offers networking opportunities, visibility, and resources that help businesses of all sizes grow. By becoming a member, you’ll gain access to marketing benefits, exclusive events, and educational workshops designed to help you succeed.
2. I’m worried about existing cliques. Will I feel like an outsider?
Not at all! We understand that joining any new organisation can feel intimidating, so we’ve put systems in place to make sure you feel welcome. Every new member is paired with a Chamber Ambassador - an experienced member or ambassador - who will guide you through your first events, introduce you to key people, and ensure you’re integrated smoothly into the local business community.
3. I don’t have time to attend every event. Will I still benefit?
Absolutely. While events are a great way to network and build connections, the Chamber offers a variety of benefits that don’t require constant event attendance. As a new member, you’ll gain marketing visibility on our platforms, and the chance to promote your business online via our website Member Directory. You can engage at your own pace - there’s no pressure to attend everything. Remember your Chamber Ambassador will be with you in the first few months to ease you into our meetings and networking.
4. How will I know if I’m getting a return on my investment?
The Chamber is focused on providing tangible value to your business. From exposure on our website, advocating with local business for all levels of government to networking opportunities that lead to new clients or collaborations, the Chamber is here to help you! We also share member success stories, so you can see firsthand how others have benefitted. If you’re unsure, you can even attend events as a non-member to experience the benefits, before fully committing.
5. Is the Chamber of Commerce outdated? Will it be useful for my modern business?
The Chamber is continually evolving to meet the needs of today’s businesses. We embrace digital marketing strategies, host workshops, and maintain a strong online presence to help you grow. 6. What if I’m shy or not confident in networking?
We understand that not everyone feels comfortable walking into a room full of strangers. That’s why we offer networking tips, and smaller, informal events like Coffee Chats where you can meet people at your own pace. Plus, with your own Chamber Ambassador they will ensure you’re never alone at your first events - your Ambassador will introduce you to relevant businesses and help you feel comfortable.
7. Is Chamber membership expensive?
Not at all! The annual membership fee is $198, but we’re pleased to offer a special discounted rate of $99 (including GST) for applications submitted by 30th June 2025.
